The Reebok Nano 6.0 are the sixth and latest version of the Nano-series; Reebok’s allround CrossFit shoes. They have been in 2016, just in time for the CrossFit Games. These shoes are currently available in 5 different color options for men, and 5 for women.
These shoes are designed to be used for CrossFit. The Nano 6 is flexible, and features a heel drop just 4 mm. This makes the shoe great for strength exercises like deadlifts, as well as for dynamic exercises like box jump. However, because these shoes have no significant heel drop, they’re not great for weightlifting exercises like the snatch, clean and jerk, squats or thrusters. If you’re looking to train those exercises, or perform WOD’s with a lot of these exercises, a shoe with a higher heel raise, like the CrossFit Lifter plus 2.0, is a better option.
Shoe design / construction
This shoe’s upper is made out of mesh, with a top layer of kevlar. The kevlar gives the shoe structural support, while the mesh makes sure the shoe breathes well.
The Nano 6.0 uses of the RopePro; a grippy pattern on the inside of the shoe. This makes sure you have good grip on ropes while performing rope climbs; one of the recurring exercises in CrossFit.
This shoe uses flat laces, a small advantage in CrossFit, as these types of laces are less likely to come undone than round ones. The tongue of this shoe has a loop fot the laces, which helps it stay in place during intense exercise. The tongue is now made out of cushioned mesh for more comfort. This is advantage over the previous model, the Nano 5, that uses a less comfortable synthetic leather tongue.
The Nano 6 uses flat rubber soles. This makes for a large contact area with the floor, and provides great grip. Providing a good grip is important to make sure you don’t slip when jumping or sprinting. The sole uses so-called ‘Metasplit flex grooves’. These are grooves in the soles to provide for movement between the toebox and the rest of the shoe. Reebok also states that the inside of the heel now has a thicker padding for more comfort.
Color and design
The Nano 6.0 looks a lot like it’s predecessor, the Nano 5.0. Design-wise, both are typical Reebok Fitness shoes. Both shoes also use exactly the same sole. The biggest difference in deasing is that the Nano 6 doesn’t have any print on the upper, like the Nano 5. This gives the Nano 6 a more clean look.
Currently, there are 5 different color options for men, and 5 color options for women. The men’s options are black, black/red, neon blue, red/black, and denim blue. The current women’s options are blue/pink, white, neon blue, burgundy, and ‘crisp blue’.
The Nano 6 fits true to size, and are normal in width. To make sure you order the correct size, use this Reebok shoe size table.
The Reebok CrossFit Nano 6.0 are comfortable and practical allround CrossFit shoes, and the best option of CrossFit WOD’s that combine dynamic exercises with strength exercises. These shoes can also be used for most typical gym workouts, and for serious strength training exercises like deadlifts. If you want to perform weightlifting exercises however, shoes with a heel insert will provide better performance. If you’re looking for optimal performace in the snatch, clean & jerk, or sqauts, the Reebok CrossFit Lifter plus 2.0 are a better option.
