The Inov-8 Fastlift 315 and 335 are mid-range weightlifting shoes that are mainly suitable for CrossFit. This shoe is available in many different color versions: yellow/black, gray/red, black/red, blue, green/purple, and pink.
The shoe is best used for CrossFit. The men’s version, the Fastlift 335 weights about 335 grams (for size 42 EU), and the womens version, the Fastlift 315, weights about 315 grams. This is a very light shoe, at about 150 grams lighter than the Romaleos 2. Because of the materials used and build the shoe is very flexible for a weightlifting shoe.
Shoe design / construction
The body of the shoe is made out of relatively thin synthetic and mesh material. This allows the shoe to breathe well. This also ensures that the shoe is flexible, and a lot more comfortable than is, for example, the rigid AdiPowers. The drawback is that this makes the Fastlifts less stable than its competitors.
The rubber sole in the Fast Lift is completely flat, which ensures a good grip between the floor and the shoe. The sole uses “Meta-Flex’, a shallow groove in the sole from side to side, which allows the forefoot of the shoe to move independently of the rest of the shoe.
The Inov-8 has an effective heel height of 0.65 inch / 1.65 cm, and performed in the rigid TPU. The heel is made up of 8 short, round, tubes, instead of solid material. This is done to make the shoe lighter. However, this makes the heel slightly less firm than shoes with more material in the heel, like the Nike Romaleos 2. However, the heel is designed to function as a heel cup, which increases the lateral stability of the shoe. In this shoe, this is called an ‘external heel cage’.
The Inov-8 Fastlift has a single, strap made out of synthetic material, to improve the stability.
Color and design
The shoe is available in 6 different color schemes: yellow/black, gray/red, black/red, blue, green/purple, and pink.
The Fastlifts runs small. It is therefore recommended to order the shoe half a US size smaller than your other sports shoes. The shoe has a normal width. They might feel a bit narrow, but this is intentional, to improve the stability. It might take a few weeks to break the shoe in properly.
Conclusion; light, flexible and comfortable CrossFit Shoe
The Inov-8 Fastlifts are very good CrossFit shoes because they’re light, flexible and comfortable. However, there are better options in terms of stability for weightlifting, for instance, the Adidas Adipower and the Nike Romaleos 2.
