Adidas Power Perfect 2 review

Introduction

Adidas Power Perfect II‘s are mid-range weightlifting shoes, released in 2011 by Adidas. They’re no longer manufactured, but still available in limited amounts. The shoe only comes in one color combination: white and red.

Use

The Power Perfects are made with Olympic weightlifting in mind, but also a very good option for squatting and other strength exercises. The Power Perfects aren’t are a bit more flexible than the Adidas AdiPower, and therefore are pretty good for CrossFit, too.

Specs

Shoe design / construction

The body of the shoe is made out of leather, and has lots of ventilation holes on both sides of the laces. The tongue of the shoe has a leather strip with two loops for the laces. As a result, the lip of the shoe remains very securely in place while lifting, and improves the firmness of the shoe. The sole of the shoe is entirely flat and constructed in rubber; good features for a firm grip on the platform.

Heel

The Power Perfects have a 0.75 inch / 1.9cm EVA heel. This material is slightly compressible in the Adidas Powerlift 2, but proves to be less of an issue with the Power Perfects, as the EVA used in this shoe is higher density. However, the robustness of a TPU heel, like in the Adidas AdiPower, can’t be beat.

Metatarsal strap

To improve the stability of the shoe, it uses a single velcro strap. The strap is made of synthetic material.

Color and design

A slight disadvantage for this shoe, is the fact it’s only available in one color: white with red and black accents. The Adidas Power Perfect is similar in design to many classic Adidas sneakers.

Sizing/Fit

The shoe is fits true size. The Power Perfects are normal in width. When ordering, go for the same size as your other shoes.

Conclusion: great weightlifting shoes for the price

The Adidas Power Perfect 2 are great weightlifting shoes for the price. In terms of build quality and stability, this shoe performs very well. Compared to the AdiPowers, the heel of the Adidas Power Perfect 2 is not that great. The AdiPowers have the advantage of the TPU heel and a heel cup.
In terms of quality, compared to the other Adidas weightlifting shoes, this one is in between the AdiPowers and the Powerlift 2‘s. A slight advantage for most, is that the Power Perfect II’s to some, is that the shoe is normal width.

The shoes are great value, as they are about $50-75 less than the AdiPowers. If you’re looking to buy this shoe, don’t wait for too long. Production of this shoe is discontinued, so it’s hard to tell for how much longer they will be for sale.
